Narberth PA flag rugby finishes successful first seasonAmerican Flag Rugby News and PressJuly 29, 2011
The inaugural season of Flag Rugby in Narberth, PA: 2011 The year 2011 was the inaugural season of Flag Rugby in Narberth, PA. The program, open to any boy or girl under the age of 11, touts itself as a game that will leave your player wanting to continue with the sport. The non-contract youth rugby program follows the rules of American Flag Rugby and requires "tackles" to be made by pulling the flag from the ball carrier. The eight-week program turned out to be an excellent introduction to the game of rugby. The program did not had enough kids in its first season to break into the classic AFR categories of Owls, Falcons, Hawks and Eagles, but the kids of all ages learned to pass, catch, run and kick. With the fun-loving but disciplined leadership of Coach Robb Deluca, the kids left the program as predicted - wanting for more. Coach Deluca is already planning to expand the program in 2012. Narberth RFC provides for Under-19 boys, Under-15 boys, and Under-11 coed flag rugby football opportunities in Narberth, PA and surrounding townships. They play within the Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Union and are members of USA Rugby. Their club is open to anyone interested in playing a physically and mentally demanding game, no experience is necessary. Contact: Robb DeLuca, American Flag Rugby |
