Get involved! Be a youth flag rugby referee this summer. American Flag Rugby is heating up all over the country. Denville, part of the Morris Youth Rugby summer league had a clinic recently to teach youth rugby referees the ropes. The referee clinic was held on a Wednesday evening from 7-9pm at the Denville Library very close to the field where the Denville Dawgs youth team plays. Referee Lil Rimac lead the clinic. In Morris County, all New referees were required to attend. It is also recommended that returning referees attend, as well, to refresh their skills and knowledge of the game. Attached are the AFR Rules of Play for 2010 and Referee Signup Forms are available for download. Morris Rugby encourages U19 players (New Refs must be entering the 9th grade or older) to participate as referees in the youth program. Many U19 players grew up in the Morris youth program which is now in it's 11th year. The Morris Youth Rugby programs further encourage participation by offering payment to the young referees of up to $250 for the summer. The program leaders believe participation is an important role and also a lot of fun. 2010 Morris Rugby Referee Application Contact: Craig Chapman, Executive Director, American Flag Rugby Related Links |
